"Twilight" is off to a bright start on shiny disc.

Summit Entertainment said more than 3 million DVDs of its vampire-romance title jumped off store shelves over its first day. The first-day haul for "Twlight" came via an unusual Saturday launch as discs generally debut on Tuesdays.

The "Twilight" sales rank among the top five best-selling DVD titles of the past two years, execs said. The big DVD tally follows an outsized theatrical run for the first in a planned trio of pics based on the "Twlight" book series.

"We are incredibly appreciative that 'Twilight' fans came out to once again support this film at our midnight events across the nation," Summit home entertainment topper Steve Nickerson said Sunday.

"Twilight" has produced $373 million in worldwide boxoffice. Global boxoffice includes more than $191 million in domestic grosses since bowing Nov. 21, plus $181 million in foreign coin.

Two "Twlight" sequels have been announced: "New Moon," set to unspool Nov. 20, and "Eclipse," recently scheduled for a June 30, 2010, opening. All three "Twilight" pics are based on best-selling novels most popular with tweens and teens.

Producers of New Moon, the second installment of the Twilight series, have called in some serious reinforcement to protect star Robert Pattinson from the barrage of female fans. They've hired Canadian Mounties! RadarOnline.com talks exclusively to the brave gentleman who is keeping the actor safe and sound.

While filming on the tiny scenic island of Tofino, on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, producers enlisted the help of local cops Constables Brendon Baillant and Brandon Builziuk to make sure filming went off without a hitch. Not their usual cup of tea, the constables encountered their fair share over overzealous teens during the assignment.

"It was an unusual mission but our remit was to keep the fans off the set," Constable Baillant told RadarOnline.com exclusively. "Everything went well on the first day but then a group of teenage girls got a little too close when the filming moved to the Long Beach area of the island."

"They were totally miffed with us when we told them that they could not get any closer, however, their spirits lifted when Kristin Stewart came over to pose for a few photographs with them," he recalled. "It was raining really hard the whole time but the producers loved that because it helped to make their scenes much more gloomy and atmospheric too. This is a beautiful part of the world but when it gets cold and wet even a vampire would get the chills."

The two Mounties' services helped to raise over $3000 of sporting equipment for two local schools. The money was donated by the film's producers. "

Basicamente dice (para los que las da ladi leer) que debido a la fiebre que ha desatado Robert Pattinson y en general el acontecimiento de que la segunda película sea grabada allí, la policía fué llamada a estar siempre pendiente del los miembros del cast e inclusive en todos los sets que se han utilizado y que ciertos fans han descubierto (porque son TOP SECRET) se ha visto policías rodeando el lugar y protegiendo de "mirones" los sets de filmación.

Bueno una vez más se tomaron fotos de la casa de Jacob, que ya es seguro que esa es la casa que están utilizando para las filmaciones porque una vez mas frente a la casa se ven esos camiones del equipo del filmación, además de las dos pickups ya conocidas de la película anterior, tanto la camioneta que utilizan el papa de Jacob y el, como la camioneta de Bella, se ve que se están enfocando en las tomas en la casa de Jacob en estos días.

Aunque se esperaba que fuera Robert Pattinson quién fuera a dicha premiación, quién estuvo presente fue Taylor Lautner y recibió el premio por Stephenie Meyer.

Se sabe que Robert Pattinson esta en Vancouver desde que empezaron las filmaciones, solo que no se ha dejado ver casi por nadie y esta pareciera ser bajo una roca LoL!
Al parecer el resto de los actores que interpretan a los Cullen, no estan ahora en Vancouver, a excepción de Robert Pattinson, que como él mismo dijo aun NO EMPIEZA a grabar sus escenas. Permance ahí, según dicen haciendo ejercicio con entrenadores personales y trabajando en sus lineas para la película. Se le ha visto muy poco en las calles o alrededor de Vancouver y es porque según parece esta tratando de esconderse lo mas posible de los fans (LOL), fué a el concierto de un amigo en Vancouver, pero para no ser acediado por fans vió el concierto desde backstage como lo dijo su propio amigo. Y ayer estuvo en un evento musical privado, pero estuvo muy bajo perfil y según parece no se tomo fotos con nadie y quiso pasar por desapercibido lo mas posible.

Ashley Greene (Alice) y Kellan Lutz (Emmet) fueron vistos en Los Angeles, NO juntos LoL.
Pero el hecho es que no están como algunos suponían, en Canadá con el cast de New Moon.

La grabaciones en Italia NO serán a partir de 25 de Mayo,
como había anunciado antes la pagina australiana de Twilight.
Según informó la página de Twilight OFICIAL Italiana, la oficina de turismo de Montepulciano negó que el rodaje de "New Moon" esté fijado para comenzar desde el 25 al 31 de Mayo de este año como se había dicho.
Sin embargo dicha oficina de turismo NO NIEGA que vayan a rodar New Moon en esa ciudad, solo desmiente las fechas.

British actor Jamie Campbell-Bower has revealed he will play Volturi leader Caius in The Twilight Saga: New Moon.

Campbell-Bower confessed he was not previously aware of the character: "I hadn't read the books before. But it's a great thing to be a part of, and it did very well last year."

Film-maker Chris Weitz (About a Boy, The Golden Compass) has taken over directing duties from Twilight's Catherine Hardwicke for the second film.

Casting news for New Moon has been revealed gradually, with 15-year-old Dakota Fanning now confirmed to take part the part of Jane, a member of the Volturi gang with psychic abilities.

Five American Indian actors will make their film acting debuts as members of a wolf pack which features heavily in New Moon.

Casting for other roles is being hotly debated on fan websites.

Campbell-Bower teased: "I do know who else will be in it - but I can't tell you, unfortunately.

"But go online and have a look at the rumours," he said, then added: "They're all false. You're putting me in a terrible situation."


'Adulation'

The up-and-coming star will be acting alongside fellow Brit Robert Pattinson, who returns as the hero, teenage vampire Edward Cullen. Kristen Stewart reprises her role as Edward's human girlfriend, Bella Swan.

The quartet of books by Stephenie Meyer is a best-seller worldwide.

The first film adaptation, Twilight, topped the US box office, making more money than industry insiders had predicted.

Global receipts for the film currently stand at $376m (£265m).

Hundreds of fans turned out for the London premiere in Leicester Square last year, while Pattinson has become a heartthrob overnight.

Campbell-Bower said: "I doubt I'll get the same sort of adulation as Robert - but it's always nice when people recognise you for your work."

The actor also plays alongside Sir Ian McKellan and Jim Caviezel in the remake of cult series The Prisoner which is due to screen on American television this year.

Confirmó que es parte del cast y que interpretará a un Vulturi, pero dijo que no podía decir a quién interpretaría.
Dicen que será Cayo. Uno de los lideres Vulturi.
Este muchacho es mas que todo conocido por haber trabajado en Sweeney Todd.
Ya veremos cuando se confirma que papel estará interpretando, aunque dicen que sería Cayo a mi me parece mucho mas apropiado para interpretar el papel de Alec.
Lo veo demasiado joven para como me imginé a Cayo.

Primer "Poster" De New Moon!

El sábado 28 de Marzo, hubo una convención de cine o algo por el estilo en Las Vegas.
Ahi se mostraron varios posters y anuncios de las películar por venir.
Un fan tomó una foto de el "primer poster oficial" de New Moon.
Este claramente NO ES EL POSTER OFICIAL PARA CINES. Solo agarraron el logo que ya se había mostrado hace como un mes y lo imprimieron en forma de Poster,
Pero de todas maneras es OFICIAL de Summit Entretaiment, asi que se puede considerar un poster de esos "teaser" o algo por el estilo.
Se dice que los primeros posters oficiales para cines mundiales y promocionales, podrían salir en los proximos 2 meses. Quizás menos. Ya que se sabe que los photoshoots para la pelicula YA FUERON HECHOS, en Vancouver, La misma semana en que hicieron los ensayos y las pruebas de vestuario y eso fue hace unas 2 o 3 semanas ya.

MARCH 30 | Summit Home Entertainment’s Twilight sold 5.2 million DVD and Blu-ray Disc units in its first week on shelves to become the top seller of the year so far.

Summit said consumers purchased 5.2 million copies of the modern vampire tale in the U.S. during in the first week following the title's midnight release on Saturday, March 21. Including last weekend, the title’s nine-day take was 5.6 million units, according to Summit.

A common yardstick used by studios is 20,000 units in first-week sales per $1 million at the box office, which would put the expectation for Twilight, with a $191 million box-office take, at 3.8 million units sold in its first week. At 5.2 million units, Twilight performed more like a $260 million theatrical release.

Summit’s home entertainment chief, Steve Nickerson, attributed the title’s success in large part to its Saturday release, noting that many retailers would not have staged midnight parties for a standard Tuesday release. “These [fan] girls would rather have a community event,” said Nickerson. “All we did was help facilitate what the fans would want.”

The title sold less than 5% of its units on Blu-ray, Summit said, pointing to the movie's overwhelming appeal to females. The majority of the audience for Blu-ray is still male. However, the Blu-ray version of Twilight was only available at Target and Best Buy.

About 5,800 stores nationwide—spanning Blockbuster, Borders, Hot Topic, F.Y.E., Hastings Entertainment and Wal-Mart—stayed open past midnight on Saturday, March 21, to sell Twilight as soon as it became available.

Cast members made appearances at some stores, with 2,500 fans showing up in Salt Lake City to see Rachelle Lefevre (Victoria) at a Wal-Mart; 2,000 people in Los Angeles to see Ashley Greene (Alice) at Hot Topic; and more than 1,000 fans in Dallas for director Catherine Hardwicke at Wal-Mart.

Wal-Mart set a companywide single-day DVD sales record, with some of its stores' release parties attracting more than 1,000 Twilight fans, according to a spokeswoman. The mass merchant also said the $191 million U.S. box-office hit represented its largest consumer pre-order ever. Wal-Mart is the exclusive sell-through retailer for the single-DVD, which it priced at $17. The retailer staged midnight events in about 2,400 stores, with an exclusive fan greeting filmed on the set of Twilight’s sequel, New Moon, broadcast exclusively through its in-store TV network.

Summit said Twilight’s 3.1 million-unit first-day sales ranked it among the Top 5 best first-day DVD releases over the past two years, along with Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment’s Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End; Warner Home Video’s The Dark Knight and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix; and Paramount Home Entertainment’s Transformers. Each of those titles had box-office grosses 50% to almost 200% more than Twilight.

Y en algunas partes del mundo la película se sigue mostrando en cines. Que ya ha recaudado hasta los ultimos datos mas de 372 millones de dolares, sin contar Japón que se estrenó hace relativamente poco tiempo.
